What do we do?
Advocacy
AIMS engages in various activities to spread the message of Dr. Ambedkar, promote education of Dalit and Tribal children and create awareness about atrocities and caste discrimination issues. Some of the “pay back to society” and Advocacy activities undertaken by AIMS since 2007 are as follows:
- Collected money to help build a school in Naldurg, a small city in Osmanabad district in Maharashtra, India.
- Raised money for construction of Community Centre (Ambedkar Bhawan) in 2006 in Dhuleta, Punjab (India).
- Financial assistance for Dr. Ambedkar International Conferences held in Paris and Japan.
- Distributed Dr. Ambedkar’s books to libraries in India.
- Organized Literary award functions in Calgary.
Donated writing and speeches of Dr. Ambedkar to the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University
- AIMS organized a protest march in Calgary, Alberta to show support for the victims of physical and verbal abuse perpetrated by Cow Vigilantes in Taluka (county) Una in the state of Gujrat in India
- Essay contest to spread awareness about Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and his work to end social inequities
